Great Hairdays
49How to ensure a great hair day everyday
From a professional stand point all great hair days start with a great cut. if your due for a cut insist that your stylist take time to discuss all the cuts that will flatter your face, hair texture and lifestyle. This should only take about 10 mins. Once you have a great cut, the proper shampoo & shampooing technique are next, try not to skimp on shampoo & conditioner, cheaper is not the same. Try Paul Brown or redken theses are my 2 favorites. Buy shampoo according to your hair type this does make a difference. If your not sure what your hair type is ask your stylist before you leave the salon. Shampooing should not be rough you should gently scrub the scalp only, do not rub ends of hair vigoroudly as this can damage and dry out the ends instead let the shampoo from your scalp run down and gently work it through, apply conditioner to ends first and work up to the scalp especially if you have fine or limp hair, conditioner can make your hair appear greasy. When towel drying straight hair do not rub squeeze out excess water, curly hair should not use a towel, paper towels are better because the towel can actually tear at the curl this creates frizz. Use a couple of paper towels and squeeze out excess water. Use a good styling product for curls while they are still wet (not damp) this will help to seal the curl. Style as usual.
For extreme dry hair try a mixture of mayo, honey and 1 egg beat together and apply generously let sit for 20 mins with a bag on your head (sounds great I know) but your hair will thank you for it.
